CDPAP
Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program
In short
Medicaid home care where the consumer hires, trains and directs their own aide — can be a family member or friend (not spouse/designated rep; parents of adult child allowed in some cases). Medicaid recipients needing home care, assessed by NY Independent Assessor (NYIA) and plan/LDSS, able to self-direct or with a designated representative.
Why it matters
Pays a family member to be the home aide. A 4-step process across Medicaid, the state assessor, the health plan and PPL. Families get lost between steps.
